Scarr Flies Into Top Gun Final
Matty Scarr from Hull Zingari CC will represent East Yorkshire in the County Final of the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation’s Top Gun competition on the 5th September at Headingley Cricket Ground.
As the Birmingham Bears and Yorkshire Vikings departed for the between innings interval of their Natwest Blast T20 match, Scarr, Matthew Mudd and Brad Dobson both of whom play at Beverley CC walked to the middle for their chance to bowl in front of a bumper crowd at Headingley.
Scarr, who had previously enjoyed a spell at the Yorkshire Academy, laid the gauntlet down with an impressive opening delivery of 74mph. With the target set, both Matthew Mudd and Brad Dobson followed up with 71 and 70mph respectively. Scarr’s response to the Beverley boys was a dramatic 75mph which saw the Hull quickie finish on the floor with a cut knee. Both Mudd and Dobson didn’t allow the pressure to get to them and they both improved on their first round speeds by 1mph.
With a fastest speed of 75mph, Matty Scarr is the 3rd bowler through to bowl at the England v India ODI on the 5th September. He will be joined by Elliot Richardson from Woodlands CC, West Yorkshire with 76mph and Mark Fisher from Sherriff Hutton Bridge CC, North Yorkshire who clocked 78mph.
