Bres Pops in for a Chat

The children from Halfpenny Lane Primary School were treated to a surprise visit from Yorkshire and England all-rounder, Tim Bresnan this week.

Tim came into the Cricket Centre as their Cricket in the Classroom practical session, led by YCF Coach Matt Green was just about to finish.

After introducing himself, Tim talked about the 2014 season playing for Yorkshire and described how they had won the County Championship for the first time since 2001. The floor was then open for the children to ask him some of their own questions, many of which centred on how it felt to play for England, his proudest moments as a cricketer and what it feels like to hit someone on the head!

The opportunity to talk to Tim thrilled the children, one of whom said “Meeting Tim Bresnan was brilliant, it makes me want to become a cricketer and play for Yorkshire and England when I’m older.”

Cricket in the Classroom sees over 4000 year 5 and 6 children come to Headingley every year to enjoy an action packed day including cricket coaching, learning about Yorkshire CCC and its history as well as a behind the scenes stadium tour.

“It’s fantastic that players like Tim take the time to engage with and inspire the next generation of cricket players and supporters.”

Matt Green, YCF Head Coach
