BME Development Centres enjoy a night at the T20
Young cricketers from across Yorkshire came along to watch the first ever T20 staged under floodlights at Yorkshire on Friday 15th May.
The juniors attended the match having previously been part of BME Development Centres project. This scheme runs in towns and cities across Yorkshire giving young people the opportunity to get in to cricket, who may not otherwise get chance.
The project has been funded by The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and The Yorkshire Cricket Board who have been working together to improve opportunities for people to play the game.
As a reward for all those who had attended the courses, all the young people were invited to the first T20 of the season. Over 300 children attended as part of the celebration and were treated to a strong Yorkshire Vikings victory.
Foundation Manager Will Saville said “This years development centres have been fantastic and we’ve seen great numbers attending all of them. It’s particularly encouraging to see an increase in the amount of girls taking up the sport in Yorkshire.”
