Yorkshire Cancer Research-The New Fundraising pack!
Our Partners Yorkshire Cancer Research have teamed up with the Yorkshire County Cricket Club to help reduce the impact of skin cancer in Yorkshire, especially in young people. They are asking local cricket teams, pubs and work colleagues to hold a Yorkshire v Cancer fundraising cricket event this summer and spread the word about the dangers of being out in the sun.
That’s why they have come up with a fantastic new fundraising pack to help plan and deliver a ‘Let’s knock it for six’ event throughout the 2015 season. It’s designed for use by any cricket club or business throughout Yorkshire and is packed with hints, tips and promotional materials to get your event up and running!
The pack includes posters and information leaflets and a USB stick containing lots of digital goodies like certificates, sponsor forms and social media templates. Yorkshire Cancer Research is aiming to attend as many of these events as possible with their ‘Don’t get caught out by cancer’ message.
The aim of the #StaySafeInTheSun campaign is to make people aware of the dangers of the sun – even in the cloud. It is not the bright sun that damages your skin but the UV rays and these still filter through the clouds on an overcast day.
The campaign is also helping to promote Yorkshire Cancer Research throughout the county and spread the word that they are Yorkshire’s very own cancer charity. All the money raised at the events will be put towards projects that will directly help cancer patients in Yorkshire through prevention, early detection and better treatment and care.
Yorkshire Cancer Research has already received a huge amount of support, with 20 clubs around the county already registering their interest in working with the charity this season. Altofts CC have already held their event and raised a massive £700 for Yorkshire Cancer Research!
Our Community Engagement Officer for Yorkshire Cancer Research, Sophie Bunker, is supporting the cricket clubs’ Yorkshire v Cancer events. If you would like to get involved or find out any more information please contact Sophie on firstname.lastname@example.org or 07470 057493.
