YCF Reveal Joe Root as Ambassador

The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation today announced Joe Root as their first ambassador who has come on board to help promote the community work the charity does across the county.

Root, who made his debut for England in the 2012 Test series in India, made his way down to his hometown club Sheffield Collegiate, to take part in a morning of activities with Bradway Primary School and older peoples groups from the city. During the event Root took part in the Foundation’s flagship scheme, Cricket in the Classroom, taking on Bradway Primary in a game of Kwik Cricket. This was followed up by a sporting reminiscence session in the pavilion which included his grandparents amongst the participants. The day was finished off with a free health check by One Medical Group who have recently partnered with the foundation.

On becoming the first foundation ambassador Joe said “I am delighted and honoured to be named as the first ambassador of the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation. Having been involved with Yorkshire Cricket since I can remember I know how important sport is and the positive impact it can have on people. The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation does fantastic work and I’m keen to support and help raise awareness of the charity.”

Will Saville, Yorkshire Cricket Foundation Manager commented “‘It’s fantastic that Joe has become an ambassador of the Foundation. We are really pleased to have him on board, to promote our work. We hope his input will boost the charity and highlight many of our great projects, helping us to reach and engage with more people throughout the county. We want people to understand our work and the positive difference the foundation makes in the community.’
