Round One: Harden Cuckoos vs Cottingham Old Boys

In the first round of the Grey Fox Trophy, Harden Cuckoos were keen to make their name as they beat Cottingham Old Boys, bowling them all out for 82 and finishing the game in the 21st over of the second innings.

On Sunday 21st May, Cottingham were first to bat, and looked to come out strong with a total of 82 runs being achieved before being bowled all out. Within the team, names like Mohammed and Furlong stood out, reaching the retirement end of runs spectrum. However, the Cuckoos bowling appeared to beat the best of them, with a steady performance being attained throughout the team to eventually knock them off the wicket.

Within the second innings, Harden didn’t waste any time in making up the runs. Moulds was the man to stand out from the rest, with a retirement score of 33. Other respectable scores amounted to 21 from Haider (not out), and a sad sight to see Riley’s forced retirement due to injury. Although Cottingham looked to have a good run on the wicket, it just wasn’t good enough today.

Score Card for the game can be seen below:

Next up, Harden take on Mirfield Harry Lime, while Cottingham entertain Hepworth Idle.
