Yorkshire Cricket College... One Week In

We are officially one week in to the Yorkshire Cricket College and what a week it has been. Induction week has consisted of ice breakers, new kit, module introductions, coaching preamble and a whole lot of fun for our college students! On day one, students were joined by Yorkshire County Cricket Club Chief Executive, Mark Arthur, who gave them a speech on what it is to be a part of Yorkshire CCC.

Yorkshire Cricket College, which officially started on Tuesday 5th September, works in partnership with The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and education provider SCL. The College has enrolled 16 students from across Yorkshire, aged from 16 on a 2-year course, which combines cricket training and matches built into the timetable. Student will study for 2 years here at Headingley stadium to complete their BTEC Level 3 in sport. They will benefit from professional coaching and world class facilties under to tutelage of Yorkshire Cricket College coaches.

The curriculum offers a diverse range of modules such as the Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport, leading to the BTEC Level 3. The qualification will give graduates a spring board into their future and the opportunity to progress to further education, apprenticeships or a career. The cricket coaching and matches will allow the students to work on all aspects of their game, whilst the holistic benefits that sport can offer such as development of communication, team work and self-confidence will supplement their training and education.

“We’ve had a great first week at Yorkshire Cricket College. The students have taken part in a number of ice breakers to get to know the whole squad and now have an understanding of what is expected of them here. They are already proud to be a part of such a prestigious club” – Bex Bissett, Yorkshire Cricket College Tutor
