Children's Day 2013 - Sunday 9th June
Children’s Day 2013 is almost here! The fun free event organised by Yorkshire Cricket Foundation, Leeds Rugby Foundation and The Gary Chappelow Memorial Fund provides a great opportunity to come along to Headingley Stadium and get involved.
Over the past few months the Children’s Day planning committee have been working hard in preparation for this fantastic free event at Headingley Stadium, to ensure that they deliver the best Children’s Day to date!
In just over a week on Sunday the 9th of June the stadium will be opening its gates to the public at 10.30am to play host to a vast array of new and exciting activities for the families of Yorkshire. Things to look out for are the “grossology” displays from Eureka! Where they look into the ickier side of science to deliver a stomach turning insight into the human body – definitely a messy one! The stadium will also be invaded by the Vikings of Jorvik Viking centre who will be setting up camp to invite you to delve into their history with crafts and the opportunity to try your hand with a sword.
Last year was amazing and this year we have even more going on! There are loads of fantastic free activities to try and plenty of famous faces will be about.”

During the afternoon the Emmerdale cast will be taking on West Yorkshire police in a cricket match on the famous Headingley Cricket Ground.
This is all on top of the annual sports tournaments that will be taking place so if you are taking part or supporting, it really is worth coming down to the stadium to see what’s happening! There will be something for everyone, animal lovers, performers and athletes alike, so don’t miss out!
Sophie Hayward, Project Officer for The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation said “The committee have been working really hard to put on the best Children’s Day ever. Last year was amazing and this year we have even more going on! There are loads of fantastic free activities to try and plenty of famous faces will be about.”
