England legend Alec Stewart Lends Helping Hand to YCF

Former England Captain Alec Stewart visited Headingley last week and teamed up with The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation to help coach put youngsters through their paces in a coaching session. The visiting group from Colton Primary School were treated to a batting masterclass and tips on improving their all round skills.

The coaching session was run as part of the YCF’s flagship scheme ‘Cricket in the Classroom’ which engages with 4,000 youngsters from across Yorkshire. The programme involves a full day at Headingley stadium which includes a section in the classroom, followed by a coaching session and a tour of the ground.

Alec’s visit was part of his role as an ambassador for Yorkshire Bank who are actively involved with the YCF in the community.

Will Saville, Community Development Manager for YCF said “It was fantastic to have Alec along to help out with cricket in the classroom. The school group had a great time and the feedback we’ve had, has been excellent. The group learnt a lot from the session and hopefully they’ll continue to play the game.”
