Wicketz Hull - Costello Stadium

Wicketz is a community cricket programme targeted at young people between the ages of eight and 16 who live in areas of high deprivation.

It is a national programme funded by Lords Taverners and delivered in Yorkshire by the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation.

As well as the cricketing element, participants take part in workshops based on social issues relevant to the area they live, with things such as knife crime, violence and diet and nutrition being covered in the past.

In addition, many of the youngsters are also enrolled into further sports courses and offered volunteering opportunities in order to further their development.

The Hull sessions take place every Monday from 3.45-5.30pm at Costello Stadium, HU4 6XQ, as well as Tuesdays from 3-5.30 pm at Sirius Academy North and Wednesdays at the Waudby Centre, 3.45-5.30pm.

They have been supported by several local institutions, with Humberside Fire and Rescue, Humberside Police and Hull City Council all having visited to speak to the children.

For more information on the project, contact Rick Robinson via Richard.Robinson@yorkshirecricketfoundation.com or 07791242850.
