Children's Day Sunday 19th July

The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and Leeds Rugby Foundation are delighted to announce that this year’s Children’s Day will take place on Sunday 19th July!

Children’s Day is an annual event held across the cricket and rugby grounds at Headingley Stadium. Its origins date as far back as 1922 when tens of thousands of people would flock to Soldiers’ Field at Roundhay Park to enjoy the day. In 1946, just after the Second World War, it was reported that 96,000 people attended. In 2012 the day was delivered by the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and Leeds Rugby Foundation with support from the Garry Chappelow Memorial Fund, Leeds City Council, Leeds United Foundation and West Yorkshire Police who also use the event to deliver their open day.

The 2014 event saw attendances in excess of 5000 people who were entertained by under 11 cricket, rugby and football tournaments on the pitches, activities hosted by a number of Yorkshire based organisations; including The Works Skatepark, Manic Science, Snozone, Lightwater Valley, Thackray Medical Museum, Leeds Carnegie Basketball Club and many more! Guests were also treated to a free bouncy castle and free face painting throughout the day.

The gates for the 2015 event open at 10:30am and close at 4pm; Admission is completely free for everyone, as are the activities when inside the ground. So bring the family and enjoy a fantastic day at Headingley Stadium with Children’s Day, a Leeds summer event accessible to all.
