Scarborough Beach Cricket Tournament 2nd - 4th Aug
The beach cricket tournament was introduced to the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation list of projects in the summer of 2014 and is back even bigger and better for 2015.
Working with Scarborough Borough Council the tournament is being played over 3 days on South Bay Beach in front of the iconic Scarborough Spa building with a round robin league ensuring each team plays 3 fixtures. The top 2 teams on the day will compete in the final to decide the champions!
Each of the participants and their coaches receive tickets for day 1 of the Yorkshire LV= County Championship match at Scarborough, giving many of the children the opportunity to watch Yorkshire play for the very first time. The winners of each day and their coaches will also receive tickets to watch England take on Sri Lanka in the 2016 test match at Headingley.
The beach cricket tournament in partnership with Flicx, enables children who, due to their proximity to Headingley, wouldn’t previously have had the opportunity to engage with Yorkshire Cricket the chance to take part in a project on their doorstep as well as giving them the experience of watching cricket at the highest level.
