Education Day 2016!
Education day, this year supported by Andrew Gale’s Benefit, is an annual event ran by the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and preparations for 2016 are well underway and are set to be the most successful year yet!
Education day brings together 20 schools for a day of fun filled learning based activities both on and off the pitch. The aim of the day is to provide an educational and unique learning experience out of the classroom, something very different to your average school day!
Promoting community spirit and interaction between schools, Education Day begins with a group assembly with all 20 schools, which takes place in the stands overlooking the pitch at Headingley stadium. Each child is then given their very own Kwik Cricket T-shirt to keep and they are then ready to embark on the first of their many activities throughout the day.
Workshops range from on the field activities, such as Kwik cricket sessions where children are taught cricket skills and are given the opportunity to put them into practice, to classroom based activities, such as law firm Pinsent Masons debate sessions, Sporting influence sessions, which promotes good sportsmanship and Pobble, a literacy based activity sessions with a twist. This year also welcomes the Yorkshire Ambulance Service who are delivering a practical first aid session, where children will learn valuable lifesaving skills.
Education Day is all about making a memorable day for the children and to prove that sometimes it’s beneficial to get out of the classroom and learn in different ways, but above all, to make sure they have fun!
