Throughout each season The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation hold a range off match day activations which involve youngsters getting the opportunity to go onto the pitch during major matches at Headingley Cricket Ground, including T20s, Royal London One-Day Cup matches, Yorkshire Diamonds or an International matches.
Guard of Honour
This gives two cricket teams and their coaches the opportunity to come to Headingley and support Yorkshire Vikings by proudly waving the flags as our players enter onto the pitch. They get to walk down the players entrance and see their heros up close, taking in the ecstatic atmosphere in front of thousands of supporters.
For each T20, one lucky youngster gets the opportunity to be taken to the middle of the ground before the match, for the coin toss. They get to meet Yorkshire Vikings Captain Alex Lees and get their photograph taken with him, all before watching Yorkshire Vikings do battle against the opposition!
During T20 intervals, teams are given the opportunity to go onto the pitch and take part in our throw show where they have to aim to get the ball in the net. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for youngsters, to show off their cricket skills to thousands of supporters and play on the same pitch as some of their heros!
During 50 over matches we give also give U11 Cricket teams from across Yorkshire the chance to play Kwik cricket on the outfield, in the footsteps on their heros! This is an exclusive and a once in a lifetime opportunity for children to play on the same pitch as some of the greatest cricket players of all time.
The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation Gazebo
On major match days, we also have our Yorkshire Cricket Foundation gazebo stationed pitch-side, which promotes future events and current projects being held by the foundation, focusing on our five core themes; Education, Health and Wellbeing, History and Heritage, Participation and Inclusion, as well as being a helping hand to spectators around the ground.
