The Yorkshire Cricket College is a 2 year, full time BTEC level 3 extended diploma in sport. Based exclusively at Emerald Headingley Stadium, and working in partnership with education provider SCL, the students complete the BTEC whilst benefitting from cricket training and matches built into their timetable.
The college is an educational offer aimed at students aged from 16-18 years old looking for a non-traditional educational environment where cricket is used to holistically develop the students by developing team work skills, enhancing self-confidence, leadership ability and autonomy to name a few. Furthermore, the cricket sessions are a motivation to complete assignments on time and ensure a mature attitude in the classroom.
The curriculum offers a diverse range of modules from the Principles of Anatomy and Physiology to Sports Coaching, Development and Analysis leading to a BTEC level 3 – the equivalent of 3 A-Levels.
Outside of the classroom and training setting, the Yorkshire Cricket College provides unique personal development opportunities through extra curricular qualifications, work experience and volunteering at major events across the summer.
The qualification will give graduates a spring board into their future and the opportunity to progress to further education, apprenticeships or a career.
The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation’s educational programmes aim to utilise the power of cricket and the inspirational environment and world class facilities at Emerald Headingley to give the participants an unforgettable educational and cricketing experience.
