Sporting Reminiscence Sessions Extended

The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation are delighted to announce our sporting reminiscence sessions will continue for a further three weeks.

The remote sessions have been developed as part of the Yorkshire Cricket Heritage: Reminiscence & Education – Building a Legacy project (funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund). The initial intention was to set up a network of face to face sessions working with volunteers from local cricket clubs which have engaged with the project. The Foundation planned to roll out across different settings and environments such as cricket clubs themselves, other community venues and care homes. Since Covid-19 hit the country the Foundation has gone online with weekly Zoom sessions facilitated by Dewsbury Memories.

Over the past few weeks representatives from local clubs have joined the sessions, local umpires, exiled players currently living in London and a local carers resource organisation.

Chris Chatten, Project Manager said, “We would like to reach as many people as possible who will enjoy listening too and/or sharing their memories and we would like to encourage care homes to offer to their residents where possible. It is in these unprecedented times when there is no sport to go and watch in the country, people find themselves reminiscing about their own sporting achievements or fixtures which they might have attended. Therefore, sporting reminiscence is probably more important now than it has ever been. We are encouraging people to share their local cricket memories and talk about sport in general, whilst connecting with others who share the same passion.”

The sessions will be delivered via the video conferencing system Zoom and take place on the below dates all at 2pm:

Thursday 11th June
Thursday 18th June
Thursday 25th June

The below video may be useful to watch in regards to downloading and using the Zoom application.
