Become a Champion For Mental Health

Are you looking to increase your knowledge and awareness of mental health and become a mental health champion for your community?

Earlier this month we were pleased to announce the launch of our new mental health campaign #Howstha?

A campaign centred around a series of online mental health courses targeted at individuals wishing to develop their knowledge in counselling, suicide awareness and awareness of mental health problems.

Through studying the courses, the aim is to increase knowledge and understanding of more prevalent mental health conditions.

As a charity, we aim to upskill individuals so that they feel comfortable and confident talking about mental health, allowing them to act as a champion within their community and break down the stigma often associated with mental health.

Courses include:

•Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems
•Level 2 Certificate in Self-harm and Suicide Awareness and Prevention
• Level 2 Certificate In Counselling Skills

By completing any of the above courses, individuals will become part of a network of Yorkshire Cricket Mental Health Champions.
Course completers will be invited to join a network across Yorkshire where we will provide further training and networking opportunities with external providers including Opening Up Cricket.

The courses, which are run in partnership with The Skills Network, are available to study for FREE for individuals who are over the age of 19 and not currently in education.

The courses may be of interest to individuals associated with community clubs, volunteers and those wishing to increase their knowledge in mental health. Many club Welfare Officers have taken up the offer to provide well rounded support to their club members.

By choosing to study with the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and The Skills Network, learners will have access to a wide range of interactive resources and educational content.

All courses are delivered remotely, allowing learners to study at their own pace and ability and take approximately 8-12 weeks to complete.

You can show your support for the campaign on social media by engaging and following the #Howstha hashtag.
