How was your Monday?
For students at the Yorkshire Cricket College there are some incredible experiences on offer. This week was no different. In the morning, the learners got the chance to watch the Yorkshire Vikings preparing for their t20 match against Leicestershire Foxes from their classroom balcony. In the afternoon, they took part in a masterclass on the hallowed turf with Ashes legends Matthew Hoggard and Steve Harmison.
As the end of the academic year draws ever closer, students at the Yorkshire Cricket College had a Monday to remember. Taking a break from their academic studies in the morning, the groups stepped out of their classroom for a bird’s eye view of the Yorkshire pro squad, including England’s Jonny Bairstow and Adil Rashid honing their white ball skills.
“The chance to watch how the professionals train and prepare ahead of their matches is incredibly valuable for the groups. From a tutor’s point of view, it’s great to be able to say let’s work hard in the classroom and then have a break to watch the cricket; that motivation really keeps them focussed and on task.”

After lunch, there was another treat in store. A masterclass on the pitch with England cricket legends, Steve Harmison and Matthew Hoggard as part of an event organised by partner of Yorkshire CCC, Virtu Motors.
The England pair kept a close eye on the bowlers and offered some invaluable advice about how they went about preparing for matches, coping with pressure and shared some of their most memorable experiences as a player.
