Top Gun II

After a successful competition last year, that saw Sherriff Hutton Bridge Cricket Club’s Mark Fisher triumph, the search to find Yorkshire’s fastest club bowler is on again.

This year will see a slight change in format; the defending champion will automatically progress to the finals stage where he will be joined by the fastest 11 bowlers from the heats for 3 semi-finals that will take place during the interval of the Yorkshire Viking’s Twenty20 matches. The fastest bowler at each semi-final will progress; along with the fastest runner-up will complete the line-up for the Final which will take place during the interval of the England vs Australia ODI at Headingley on Friday 11th September.

Above: 2014 Top Gun Champion Mark Fisher trains with the Yorkshire Pro Squad and talks fast bowling with Jason Gillespie as part of the winner’s prize package.

Top Gun is run by the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and gives cricketers of all age and gender the opportunity to get ‘clocked’ by our speed gun. Whether you entered last year and want to find out if you’ve added a couple of miles-per-hour to your game, or you’ve never been clocked before but wonder exactly how fast you can go, Top Gun is the place to find out!

The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation will again be touring around the counties indoor facilities, as well as attending selected Yorkshire Viking’s friendly T20 matches around the county for some outdoor heats.

The first heat will take place at Woodlands CC indoor nets on Sunday 29th March for 2 hours starting at 2pm.

The East Stand nets area at Headingley has also been confirmed and will take place on Sunday 19th April for 2 hours starting at 10am.

If dates or locations aren’t convenient, don’t worry further heats will be announced very soon.
