The Yorkies are here!

Our brand new Match Day Support Team ‘The Yorkies’ are up and running and have already become a hit with the fans.

Friday 15th May was the first T20 Blast fixture of the summer for the Yorkshire Vikings who defeated Derbyshire Falcons. It was also the debut of ‘The Yorkies’ who were out in force helping fans with the questions and also handing out loads of freebies.

The Yorkies Match Day Support Team are organised through The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and are around at all major matches at Headingley, aiming to improve the fan experience and make Yorkshire a warm, welcoming place to come and watch cricket.

Following on from the huge success of the games makers at the Olympics and the tour makers at the Tour De France, The Yorkies will be on hand to assist spectators and ensure they have a great time.

Will Saville Foundation Manager said “The Yorkies are an exciting new addition to our match day offer. We as Yorkshire Cricket want to make cricket and Headingley a sport and stadium that everyone feels a part of. We also want to do it in our own Yorkshire way. The team is made up of people from all parts of the community from students and young professionals to retired people and keen cricket enthusiasts.”

If you like to be a part of ‘The Yorkies Match Day Support Team’ you still can. We are always looking for people to help out on major match days. In return you will have the opportunity to watch the match after your shift is done and see some very exciting matches.
