The Yorkies at the One Day International!

As sixteen and a half thousand people flocked into the gates at Headingley to watch England battle it out with their arch rivals, Australia, they were once again warmly greeted by our fantastic support team, the Yorkies. With a team of over 45 on the day, the Yorkies were on hand to answer questions and hand out free maps of the ground to the thousands in attendance.

“The Yorkies this year have been absolutely fantastic. We’ve had a real mixture of people, with plenty of characters which the fans have really enjoyed. They have proved to be an essential part of Yorkshire’s match-day experience and I’ve really enjoyed working alongside them. I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone that has taken part this year”
Sam O’Donnell, Yorkshire Cricket Foundation

Receiving rave reviews from the ECB and Yorkshire County Cricket Club, it has been an excellent first year for the Yorkies team. With the 2015 season drawing to a close, we’d like to say a huge thank you to each individual that has contributed to the team, and we look forward to seeing many of you again next year.

Wearing their bright blue t-shirts, the Yorkies have been ever present throughout Yorkshire CCC’s season, assisting in the shop and ticket office, handing out information and free giveaways as well as being the first point of contact for fans entering the ground. Situated at train stations, car parks and in and around the stadium, the Yorkies proved themselves to be an essential part of Yorkshire’s strive to deliver a first-class match-day experience for their fans.

Over the course of the 2015 season, over 70 different people have donned the blue Yorkies jersey, which is a huge increase from previous years. Made up of working people, students and the retired, the team has been a mixed and diverse one, truly embodying the values of the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation.
