Heart Yorkshire Children's Day 2016

Heart Yorkshire has teamed up with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Yorkshire Cricket Foundation to stage the 2016 Heart Yorkshire Children’s Day. Taking place on Sunday 17th July at Headingley Stadium, this year’s event is set to be bigger and better than ever!

This year’s Children’s Day will be hosted by Heart Yorkshire and will see live performances from X-Factor and I’m a Celebrity star Jake Quickenden. Runner up in ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, Quickenden will entertain the crowds at Children’s Day with performances that saw him beat thousands of contestants to reach The X Factor finals.

Speaking about their support of this year’s Children’s Day, Laura Busson, Programme Controller at Heart Yorkshire said: “We are thrilled to be involved in the family fun day with the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and Leeds Rhinos Foundation and we look forward to this really exciting event which promises to be a lot of fun for the whole family.

Dating back to 1922, first held at Roundhay Park, Children’s Day is a big part of Leeds history. The event was brought back to life in 2008 by the Gary Chappelow Memorial Fund and was staged at the Headingley Stadium, securing itself as one of the most popular events in the Leeds calendar.

Nick Robinson, Project Manager at Yorkshire Cricket Foundation added, “Plans are well under way to make this year’s Children’s Day an unforgettable, unmissable experience for all those who attend.”

In addition to the live performance from Quickenden, there will be activities for the whole family to enjoy. The team from Breeze Leeds will be bringing inflatables including a lazer zone, obstacle course, demolition ball and play house! There will be a variety of stalls on offer at Children’s Day including a range of sporting activities for all to get involved in such as football, basketball and golf. Yorkshire attractions such as Lightwater Valley, Tropical Butterfly World and Eureka will also be in attendance, making this an event not to forget!

Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Community Manager, Gareth Cook commented, “We are delighted to be hosting Children’s Day again this summer and we hope this will be the biggest yet held at Headingley Carnegie Stadium. It is a wonderful opportunity to spend the day with friends and family and take part in interactive activities.”

The gates to this year’s Heart Yorkshire Children’s Day will open at 10am and close at 4pm. Admission will be charged at just £3 per adult and £1 per child (aged 5-17) on the day, with family tickets available at £5 (2 x adults and 2 x children) by advance purchase only. Tickets are to be purchased at the Leeds Rhinos ticket office. All other tickets are available in advance or on the day! Once you are in the grounds, all activities are free to take part in.

Do not miss out! Bring your family and friends and make sure you are a part of what will be the biggest family event in Leeds this summer!
