Kwik Cricket on the Outfield!

On the 1st August, eight cricket clubs were given a once in a lifetime opportunity to play on the outfield during the interval of The Royal London One Day Cup Match between Yorkshire Vikings Vs Warwickshire.

Woodlands Girls, Alne Girls, Ripley CC, Rodley CC, Pickering CC, Newby Hall CC, Acomb CC, Pocklington CC all came to Headingley to take part in a Kwik Cricket tournament, all members taking part received a free ticket, plus four tickets for coaches and parents to come and watch.

Four teams played one another, while the other four teams battled it out in the Gilbert Cup.

Each participant really put in 110% for effort, every team played so well and there was a clear sense of good strong sportsmanship as the winners were announced, which was fantastic to see. It really is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the children to play on the outfield, in the footsteps of their heroes, one they will look back on fondly and never forget.- Joanne Swinbank, The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation

Just wanted to say thank you for Monday – it must have taken a lot of organising! The boys and girls had a really good time. Highlight of the day for them was getting the chance to hit sixes into the western terrace -Simon and Jo Brown, Acomb CC
