Gilbert Cup 2016

The Gilbert Cup is national under 11’s Cricket competition, which gives girls and boys the opportunity to compete on the pitch during Royal London One Day Cup at counties across the UK.

Hundreds of children take part every year for their chance to make it to the grand final played at Lord’s during the One-Day Cup final, for a once in a lifetime experience!

This year’s Gilbert Cup at Headingley took place on 1st August during the interval of the Royal London One Day Cup between Yorkshire Vikings Vs Warwickshire.

Four teams; Woodlands Girls, Alne Girls, Ripley CC and Rodley CC battled it out for their chance to be crowned Winner.

All teams played with spirit and commitment on the day, with Alne CC triumphing for the girls and Ripley CC winning it for the boys!

Congratulations to all teams who took part, well played by all!

Well done to each and every team who took part in the Gilbert Cup, it can be really nerve-racking playing on such a big pitch, in front of such a huge crowd but each child took it in their stride and were on top form. Congratulations to both Alne and Ripley!
