Yorkies at the ODI
The Yorkies have done it again!
After their debut in 2015, the Yorkies have been present at every major match played at Headingley, greeting people with a Yorkshire warm welcome and the One Day International against Pakistan was no exception.
Our Yorkies, unmissable in their bright blue get up with Yorkshire slogans such as ‘ow can I help thee?’ were situated in and around Headingley stadium.
They were on gates, car parks, assisting with the Tiger Bus transport, in the ticket office, helping with pitch activations and at train stations around Headingley to make sure that everyone had a warm welcome.
They were on hand to answer questions and hand out free maps of the ground to the thousands in attendance, to make sure that everyone had the best possible start to the day. The Yorkies have once again proved themselves to be an essential part of Yorkshire’s strive to deliver a first-class match-day experience for their fans.
The Yorkies have turned into one big family, with a more diverse range of people than ever before. Made up of working people, students and the retired alike, we have truly lived up to our core theme of inclusion.
Some of our Yorkies got to meet their Cricketing idols throughout the season, at the One Day International, the Test Match and T20’s including Yorkshire and England stars Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow.
We’ve received glowing feedback about our Yorkies all throughout the season, from the club, spectators and staff commending their enthusiasm and effort and we would personally like to thank every individual who took part in making this season so fantastic. Go Team Yorkies!
