Rose Runners - February Update!
February has seen our Rose Runners brave some wet and windy Monday nights. However, the team pulled together and still managed to clock up an impressive 165km’s as a group! The team welcomed one new member this month, meaning the club total moves up to 19 members.
Four of our Rose Runners took on the Run for Skye on Sunday 12th February – a 5k route of Middleton park in memory of Skye Sutcliffe, who at the age of 10 months, was shockingly diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic and myeloid leukaemia. Skye sadly passed away on 1st December 2015. This year, the event raised a total of £2000 which will be donated to the charity, Candlelighters who work with children in Yorkshire who are diagnosed with cancer. Well done to all involved, especially our Rose Runners who contributed to a great cause.
February’s Most Attended Member – Charlotte Jones
Well done to the YCF’s Charlotte Jones, who attended four of four sessions during February!
“Attending running club week on week is a really good way to get yourself to get into a running routine. You’re running as a group so you feel motivated to attend and it makes you feel good then for the rest of the week.” Charlotte, Rose Runner.
This month the group took on four sessions this month which included:
Exactly 4 weeks from their original timed laps session, the group took on time trials of the stadium. Four people beat their original time which was a great achievement.
The group took on a hills session down on Kirkstall Road, which includes running up and down the adjacent streets. A tiring, yet satisfying session for those who took part!
Our Rose Runners took on a longer route this week, extending their usual stadium laps to include more of the surrounding area in Headingley.
Like last month, the Rose Runners ran down to Kirkstall Road, where they did a negative split session. This time, running for 5 minutes and making it back to the start point within 4 minutes.
YCF Running Club will continue to meet every Monday at 5:30pm outside the Yorkshire Cricket Centre on St Michael’s Road (LS6 3BU). If you would like more information click here or to join us contact Beth on firstname.lastname@example.org.
