Enjoy Cricket?

The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation (YCF) are pleased to announce their Enjoy Cricket programme will be operating again this year. With funding from the Charitable Youth Trust and support from the YCF, Enjoy Cricket enables Yorkshire based cricket clubs to host their own cricket camps during school holidays, with the primary aim of the project to introduce children aged seven and upwards to cricket in an organised, fun environment from as little as £1 per day.

In line with the YCF’s themes, Participation and Inclusion, 2016 saw 24 Clubs/Centres running Enjoy Cricket camps which offered a collective total of 522 hours of cricket coaching. A staggering 3,300 children took part in Enjoy Cricket 2016 camps! Each Club/Centre that hosts an Enjoy Cricket course must appoint a Course Administrator who must be a member of ECBCA or YCBCA, as well as appointing coaches who are accredited to a minimum of UKCC Level 1.

“Our Enjoy Cricket week was a tremendous success with over 120 children attending each day.” Club Course Administrator, Enjoy Cricket 2016.

Enjoy Cricket is a way for clubs to engage with their community in an inclusive, fun way to enhance the sporting offering within their local area. It provides a perfect opportunity for cricket clubs to centre themselves at the heart of the community.

“Enjoy Cricket is an excellent way for Clubs to open their doors to non-cricketers and offer an informal, low cost introduction to the game. The suggested £1 minimum charge for children to participate, means that the programme is inclusive to most who may want to try cricket for the first time.” Beth Cook, Yorkshire Cricket Foundation Project Officer.

Enjoy Cricket is just one way in which the YCF and Yorkshire Cricket engage with the Clubs and the local community. Yorkshire County Cricket Club offer a ‘Club Yorkshire Clubs’ membership package which includes a variety of benefits to participating clubs. Please click here for more information.
