YCF at the ODI

The Royal London One Day International, Wednesday 24th May, was a remarkable day here at Headingley and not just on the pitch!

While England plundered the highest ever ODI total at Headingley to comfortably defeat world number one South Africa by 72 runs in the first ODI, The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation kept the crowd entertained off the pitch. Here’s what we had going on…

The Yorkies
The Yorkies were as remarkable as ever in their bright blue attire, handing out 4 and 6 cards, maps and information. They were based in and around the stadium, on gates, train stations, tiger bus, car parks, the museum and more, to make sure all spectators had the best possible start to their day.

Health Checks
Boundaries for life, along with Healthy Stadia came along to provide FREE health checks for all spectators and staff.
The checks focused on key areas and included screening for the following:
• High blood pressure
• High Cholesterol
• Obesity
• Diabetes
• Oral Cancer
• Alcohol misuse

YCF Gazebo
The YCF Gazebo was present on the day, to give information on all the YCF’s current work and projects. We had a board with all YCF upcoming dates highlighting what we have going on this summer.

The museum was open throughout the day and as popular as ever. Containing a wealth of Yorkshire’s rich cricketing heritage, the museum is divided into nine zones of interactive displays, facts and memorabilia you won’t find anywhere else. Scorecards were also sold throughout the day, raising essential funds for the YCF’s community work.

Check out the museum and much more in one of our famous Stadium Tours! The next one is Sunday 18th June… get in touch today!

The YCF Raffle
The Yorkies were on hand on the day selling raffle tickets, raising essential funds for YCF, The YCCC academy and charity partner, Children’s Heart Surgery Fund.

Mini Throw Show
In true YCF style, we had a mini Throw Show competition where spectators had the chance to win Yorkshire Tea, a free stadium tour and free match day ticket vouchers if they hit the jackpot by throwing the ball in the correct bucket.

Vinnie the Viking!
Vinnie the Viking made an appearance around the ground during Wednesday’s ODI, promoting the YCF’s work and engaging with fans, spectators and staff alike.
