Planning underway for Children's Day!
Planning for Children’s Day 2013 is underway and the lineup of activities is beginning to look very exciting!
Originating in 1922 the event has grown from a children only event into the family orientated fun filled day it has become.
Since 2008 the event has been held at the Headingley stadium, after being resurrected by The Gary Chappelow Memorial Fund who now work alongside The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and the Leeds Rugby Foundation to give you the best day possible!
The date is set for Sunday 9 June 2013 and will run from 10.30am – 4pm, plenty of time to explore the whole stadium and take part in lots of new and exciting things.
The day will involve sports tournaments in rugby, football and cricket and also traditional sports day games, just like it did 91 years ago. There will be performances and workshops throughout the day and the introduction of a giant picnic area so bring your packed lunch!
As with every year it is free to join in the fun so it is well worth a trip to Headingley to see what we will have to take part in. Don’t worry if you are not especially sporty, we will be offering something for everyone.
So far you can expect to see: Leeds Rhinos players, Leeds Children’s Theatre, Spider – Y Wheelchair Rugby and workshops from Dance Action Zone Leeds. Not to mention our showcase event, an all-stars cricket match – watch this space to find out who will be taking on the pros!
