EVENT: Supporters Association Film Screening

On Wednesday 21st March, The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation, Yorkshire County Cricket Supporters Association, along with the Yorkshire Film Archive and British Film Institue will be hosting a nostalgic film

The event will take place at Headingley in the Executive Suite. The film will be
introduced at 7:15pm before being shown at 7:30pm. There will be a special one-off opening of the Club Museum at 6:30 pm so that early attendees can peruse a varied array of the County Club’s memorabilia.

The film being screened is entitled “Six Points on a Saturday”. It was produced by Yorkshire
Television and was first aired in 1986. It is “fly on the wall” documentary of a local cricket club,
namely Pudsey St. Lawrence CC who play in the Bradford League. The programme highlights the part played by players, members, volunteers and supporters to ensure a successful cricket team.

It provides a unique opportunity to reminisce about grass roots cricket when times were less complicated.

Producer and Director Irene Cockroft (well known YTV Director, responsible for many programmes most notably the award winning “Jimmies”), will be taking part in the discussion forum, along with representatives of St. Lawrence and the Bradford League.

After the screening there will be a refreshment break followed by a discussion forum. Clips of the film will be shown again so that participants don’t miss when they were on screen.

There will be an entrance fee of £5 for adults and £1 for children. Refreshments will be provided
and are included in the price.

Thanks to a partnership with ITV Archives the 1986 Yorkshire Television documentary ‘Six Points on Saturday’ is preserved by the Yorkshire Film Archive and has been recently digitised as part of the BFI Britain on Film project supported by The National Lottery.
