Meet Ellie, New Junior Designer

Ellie started with the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation (YCF) in 2017 as a graphic design placement student and hasn’t looked back since. She has produced some fantastic work and as a result has been offered a full-time position as a Junior Designer for both the Club and Foundation.

We caught up with Ellie, to tell us all about her experience as a placement student at the YCF…

Tell us about your placement and what it’s been like

My placement at YCF has been amazing, the team couldn’t have been more welcoming and I’ve been given so many great opportunities. An example of this is when I was asked to redesign the museum wall panels, the first thing people see when they enter through the East Stand and it’s one of the best pieces in my portfolio.

What’s the best part of working in design at YCF?

The best thing is definitely the creative freedom. Elsewhere I don’t think I would’ve been allowed to have so much free reign, which is important for a designer.

Are there any pieces of work that you enjoy the most?

My favourite pieces to design have got to be social media images as I enjoy making short animations/gifs, which I hope to incorporate into the brand.

How do you feel about being offered a full time role?

I’m over the moon, it will be great to finally be able to dedicate all my time and energy to the role. I’m also excited to work with the team over at YCCC too!
