'Picko' announced as new #RoseRunners Run Leader

The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation Running Club (the #RoseRunners) are welcoming Simon Pixsley to the team as a Run Leader.

‘Picko’ is a dedicated and hugely valued regular Rose Runner and we cannot wait for him to step into his new voluntary Run Leader position within the Rose Running family!

Ahead of him starting his new role, we decided to get to know him a bit better by asking him some questions.

Can you describe yourself in 3 words?

Determined, approachable, caring.

Why did you want to become a Run Leader?

I’ve really enjoyed being a Rose Runner and when the opportunity came to become a Run Leader, I jumped at it. I like the thought of being able to give something back to the group and ensure that we’ll always be covered Run Leader wise, as the group hopefully grows.

Are you excited about it? What are you looking forward to most?

I am indeed, I’m looking forward to planning the routes/sessions and then leading them.

How did you find participating in the England Athletics course you did to qualify as a Run Leader?

I’ve never done anything like this before, so I found it very interesting and it was good to meet like-minded people and learn from them and get some fresh ideas.

What do you think you can add to the current team of Rose Runner Run Leaders?

I think it’ll be good to work as a team and bounce ideas off each other in terms of routes and sessions.

Why do you love running with the Rose Runners?

I love the running in a group aspect and going out with people who run for pure enjoyment, there’s no PBs or times its just good fun.

What do you hope to do in your position as a Run Leader?

To carry on the theme of just having fun and ensure all runners enjoy it and have a good time. The team aspect is very important to me, we start together and finish together as a group.

What’s one thing you’d like to say to aspiring social runners that aren’t involved in the Rose Runners already?

Don’t be scared and just do it.

If you want to get involved in the YCF social running scene come and run with us Monday, 5.30pm leaving from the Yorkshire Cricket Centre (43 St Michael’s Lane, LS6 3BU).
