Graphic Design Intern- Voluntary Position

The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation is a registered charity that delivers community projects across the county. Using the power of sport and cricket in particular, the Foundation aims to make a lasting, positive impact on the lives of those living in Yorkshire.

The work of the Foundation falls under four themes which are:

• Education
• Participation
• Heritage
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation as an Graphic Design Intern.

The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation are the community and charitable arm of Yorkshire County Cricket Club. As part of our 2020 strategy, the YCF aims to be the charity that makes the biggest and everlasting impact in Yorkshire’s communities and to be a widely recognizable brand, with extensive engagement across Yorkshire on all of our media and marketing channels. To achieve this, the YCF have invested time conceptualizing and developing their brand, which now needs to reach out to and be promoted in Yorkshire wider communities.

The successful applicant will be hired on a voluntary basis by The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation but will work under the Yorkshire Cricket banner which also includes Yorkshire County Cricket Club, The Yorkshire Cricket Board and Pro Coach.

Knowledge and experience of cricket is not essential, however a willingness to understand the departments within the club is necessary.

The post is based at Emerald Headingley Stadium and requires one day a week in the office.

Role Description – Graphic Designer Assistant
Reporting to: Junior Designer
Staff reporting: N/A
Based: Emerald Headingley Stadium – Yorkshire Cricket Centre (with the potential to work from home on occasion)
Type: Voluntary – 7 hours per week


Role Purpose
To assist the junior designer by creating a wide range of digital & printed content for YCF. Upholding a strong brand identity is extremely important to the YCF because it showcases who we are and what we do, which encourages people to donate or volunteer with us.

With the Cricket World Cup and the Ashes fast approaching we’re looking for someone who can help us reach out to new audiences using creative engaging concepts.

Team Purpose
To contribute to being the Charity that makes the biggest and everlasting impact in Yorkshire’s communities .

Role Description

Key Areas of Work – Create a variety of marketing materials inc. posters, banners, social media content etc. – Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on-brand.

Essential Skills – A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics – Ideally working towards or has a degree in the creative field e.g. graphic design, visual communication etc. – Ability to follow strict brand guidelines – Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)

Desirable Skills – Excellent communication skills – Ability to work collaboratively – Demonstrable ability to plan and prioritise own workload
