College suffer 34-run defeat to St Peter's
The Yorkshire Cricket College suffered a defeat to St. Peter’s school in their first 40-over match of the season.
St. Peter’s opened the batting with a partnership of 75 and went on to post a final score of 219-4, including further partnerships of 60 and 61.
Ollie Cunningham was the pick of the YCC bowlers, recording figures of 33-2 from his seven overs bowled, whilst Boeta Beukes finished with 25-1 from eight overs and Harrison Wood 38-1 from the same number.
In reply, Harry Wilkinson and Josh Wild opened with 18 and 17 respectively before further scores of 29, 9 and 26 from Beukes, Wood and Max Law.
Jonny MacGregor finished the innings with an impressive 89 not out but it wasn’t enough as the students fell to a 34-run defeat.
The College is run by the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and gives 16-18-year olds the opportunity to play cricket competitively whilst completing a BTEC level three extended diploma in sport.
The students train and study out of Emerald Headingley Stadium and are also given extra-curricular opportunities to further their development, such as work experience and volunteering.
