Stadium Tour for Cronkbourne Cricket Club
The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation hosted Cronkbourne Cricket Club from the Isle of Man, for a comprehensive behind the scenes tour of the Headingley Stadium that finished with a twist in the form of Yorkshire CCC’s own Headband Warrior Jack Brooks.
After enjoying a 2 day coaching course with YCF partner Pro Coach that included a master class from Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale, the cricketers were treated to the Stadium tour. Accompanied by a couple of excited parents, the children enjoyed spectacles such as the museum, players’ practice area and the exclusive members’ long room. Moving into the Carnegie Pavilion, they visited the International Media Centre and the ritzy Chairman’s suite, home to the rich and famous during Yorkshire and England matches.
Finally, the tour entered the stadium’s most restricted zone where only the players and coaches are normally allowed access. After visiting the players’ restaurant and away dressing room, a surprise in the form of Jack Brooks, who has just finished his first season at the White Rose County after joining from Northants, was waiting for them in the Home dressing room. After a 30 minute question and answer session on the hallowed turf he posed for photos with the group to cap off a memorable visit to Yorkshire.
Meeting Jack Brooks was the best part of the tour. His story has made me even more determined to be a professional cricketer.
