South Asian Communities Project- This Girl Can!

In connection with our South Asian Communities Project and as part of ‘This Girl Can’ campaign by Sport England, free Cricket activities are being provided to women in Leeds and Bradford during August.

This Girl Can is an exciting national campaign developed by Sport England and a wide range of partnership organisations. It’s a celebration of active women up and down the country who are doing their thing no matter how well they do it, how they look or even how red their face gets!

Cricket sessions are therefore being led by women from local communities, which will all be completely free of charge, with the hope of empowering and encouraging women and girls, especially from south Asian communities, to play cricket. It’s a unique opportunity provided in physical activity for a hard to reach group. It also develops further opportunities for women and girls to play and gain qualifications as cricket coaches.

“We provide a variety of physical activities across Leeds, this is a great opportunities for women and girls to try game of Cricket in a safe and healthy environment.” -Habib Khan, Hamara Healthy Living Centre Manager.
