Book Cricket in the Classroom for 2016 Now!

There is still availability for Cricket in the Classroom in 2016. The project is the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation’s flagship educational offering, taking place on Wednesdays and Thursdays and aimed at Key Stage 2 children in years 5 and 6. The project has been delivered to thousands of children across the county, introducing them to cricket with a taster session and a newly developed classroom session followed by a behind-the-scenes stadium tour.

The cricket session, delivered by Pro Coach in the YCCC Cricket Centre, caters for experienced cricketers to those who have never picked a bat up before. With an emphasis on team work and enjoyment, it’s an inclusive session guaranteed to engage with the children, regardless of their ability.

The structure and content of the Classroom session has been successful and highly popular for a number of years, however we understand that the school curriculum is ever changing to meet the needs of the primary schools and the demands of their pupils. As a result we have evolved this year’s offering, introducing a new Cricket in the Classroom Work Book; written by YCF tutors and in conjunction with primary school teachers focuses on key curriculum subjects such as numeracy, literacy, history and geography all delivered with a cricket, and in particular Yorkshire Cricket theme throughout.

The content of the book caters for children of all educational abilities, including Vinny the Viking brain busters to challenge the most advanced learners as well as a fun Crossword and Word Search. The children will be encouraged to take their work books back home or to school to complete.

The classroom session finishes with a new interactive quiz based on Yorkshire CCC’s championship winning 2015 season.

After lunch, the children are taken on a behind the scenes tour, starting in the museum and taking in the players’ and media areas of the new Carnegie Pavilion.

Previously, the project has been free for Yorkshire based schools, however due to a loss of funding there is a subsidised charge of £100 per slot (max 30 children). There are 2 slots available per day.

If you would like to book a session, or have any questions about the day, please contact or telephone 0113 2033632.
