Children's Day raises over £8,000!
£8492 raised through Children’s Day donations to benefit host charities!
Children’s Day 2017, which saw over 4000 people visit Headingley Carnegie Stadium for a day of child friendly activities, sports tournaments and live entertainment has raised £8492 to support the work of host charities Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and Leeds Rhinos Foundation.
The two not-for-profit charities have co-hosted Children’s Day since 2008, offering a free day out at the stadium, with optional donations to help the running costs of the event and support some of the community-based programmes run in Leeds and the wider Yorkshire region throughout the year.
Thanks in part to voluntary donations on the gate of £3 per adult and £1 per child from members of the public attending the event, car parking fees, along with donations made to organisations within the ground, the event has been a huge success for both charities.
“The day isn’t really about profit for us, it has always been to inspire young children to try different sports and provide a day that gives back to fans but we have been able to cover some of the costs of the event and will be able to support some of our projects going forward, so it’s been a real success for us and for Leeds Rhinos Foundations, Tom Exley
Along with over 30 organisations from across the county, who provided free activities within the ground, a number of key sponsors also make the popular event happen each year as
Based at Headingley Carnegie Stadium Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and Leeds Rhinos Foundation are two of the leading sports foundations, using the power of sport to maximise the opportunities available for everyone to learn, participate and improve their lives on a series of projects under the key themes of education, arts and culture, health & wellbeing and history & heritage.
