Leeds City Cup make it through to finals!

We are proud to announce that our Leeds City Cup team have made it through to the Northern Regional City Cup Finals, which will be hosted at Duffield Cricket Club in Derbyshire, where we will play against Sheffield. Wolverhampton and Bradford will make up the rest of the group.

The ECB City Cup is an ECB national programme designed to give players aged between 15-18, who may have missed their opportunity or have never been given the opportunity, a chance to showcase their talents, develop their skills and get a taste of professional coaching. Players who represented the Leeds team were selected by coaches after attending indoor and outdoor open trials.

Leeds played two games in the Semi- Finals on 21st July, winning their first game against Manchester at Bowling old Lane Cricket Club by 43 runs and losing their second game by 17 runs against Newcastle at Bradford Park avenue.

Leeds City Cup team played Manchester in the first game. A good all round performance to ensure a comfortable win.
We then played a strong Newcastle team who beat us by 17 runs. We leaked too many extras whilst bowling and it cost us in the end.
Overall, lots of positives to take from the day and it was great to see how our young Leeds team put together some strong performances throughout the day. -Sohail Raz, Core Cities Development Officer (Leeds)
