Yorkshire Cricket to Stage 24-Hour Coaching Event

Yorkshire County Cricket Club has partnered up with Pro Coach and Yorkshire Cricket Foundation to stage the first ever Yorkshire Cricketathon.

The event, which takes place on February 8 and 9, will be a 24 -hour event encompassing numerous groups of Yorkshire Cricketers. Held at the Yorkshire Cricket Centre, Headingley Stadium complex, It is set to involve an indoor cricket tournament, Leeds Varsity tournament involving cricketers from the two universities in the City, Yorkshire women’s 1st XI training, girls cricket, specialist coaching, grassroots coaching, disability cricket and other cricketing activities.

Organised by Pro Coach the event will be a celebration of the success of Yorkshire Cricket, as well as raising money for the further development of many aspects of the grassroots game in the county. It is designed to improve the quality of facilities, equipment and coaching that is available to all recreational cricket in what is the biggest geographical region for cricket in the country.

“It is a three-way initiative that has been developed by Yorkshire County Cricket Club, Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and Pro Coach, the club’s coaching arm,” said Will Saville, Yorkshire Cricket Foundation’s, Community Development Manager.

“We wanted to do something that was different that creates awareness of our initiatives at recreational level. During the Cricketathon we will engage with every facet if Yorkshire cricket from elite level to the playground. Our efforts will lead to further participation in the sport across Yorkshire, more enjoyment for the people involved and the next generation of Yorkshire and England cricketers coming through.”
