Kamil started to volunteer with our Wicketz programme based in Leeds.
After being placed in social care before his 2nd birthday, Kamil live with his auntie for several years and he was then placed in foster care in Leeds. He has remained with the foster family for the past 15 years. Growing up, he has experienced bullying, racially-motivated attacks and ended up hanging around with ‘bad influences’ which led to situations of conflict.
Kamil began working at community hub CATCH in Leeds at the age of 16 and helped to run activities. Wicketz began at CATCH in 2017 and Kamil volunteered his time.
Since then, and never having played cricket or coached before Kmail became a qualified ECB support coach worker and took part in the Stanley Matthews programme and is now on paid work with Active Leeds.
He also won the ‘Young Leaders’ award at the Yorkshire Cricket OSCA’s this year!
