The aim of the beach cricket tournament is to engage children through a fun, non-traditional format of the game, using casual cricket as an accessible and positive way to introduce new audiences. The beach cricket format is adapted to be community-focused and inclusive, creating a relaxed environment where children can take part, enjoy the game and build confidence.
The day also acts as a reward for children attending our local weekly sessions, with places offered based on positive behaviour and regular attendance across our Street Cricket, Wicketz, Pop-Up and ACE programmes. Travel was supported in partnership with Northern Rail, making the journey particularly special, as for many children it was their first time travelling by train. For the majority, it was also their first visit to the seaside, alongside the opportunity to watch a live Yorkshire game at Scarborough CC, making the experience both memorable and inspiring.
