The competitions provide the opportunity to play a more formalised version of cricket, but in a community setting local to participants. After researching local areas and understanding the barriers people face in accessing sport, session dates, times and costs are tailored to ensure the leagues are affordable and accessible. Often described as cricket’s version of five-a-side football, the format is ideal for both regular players and those returning to the game.
The competitions play an important role in supporting fitness during the winter months, while also providing valuable opportunities to socialise and support mental wellbeing. Before Christmas, the focus is on a relaxed indoor league, creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment. In January, the competition progresses into the Indoor Cup, bringing together winners from Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield and Kirklees to compete in the Yorkshire Indoor Cup.
