Listening is a vital part of safeguarding. Everyone involved in cricket should feel safe, confident and supported to speak up, knowing they will be taken seriously and treated with respect. The YCF is committed to creating a culture where voices are heard, valued and acted upon, particularly those of children, young people and adults at risk.

How We Listen

We listen and learn by:

  • Creating safe and welcoming spaces where participants can share their experiences, concerns or ideas without fear of judgement or repercussions;
  • Actively listening to concerns, feedback and lived experiences, whether raised formally or informally;
  • Providing clear and accessible ways to share feedback or raise concerns, including trusted adults, safeguarding contacts and an anonymous feedback QR code available at our activities and venues;
  • Making sure everyone knows who to talk to and how to get help, both within clubs and across YCF;
  • Co-designing elements of our programmes with young people and communities so their voices help shape what we do;
  • Encouraging regular open conversations about safety, inclusion and wellbeing.

Acting on What We Hear

Listening leads to action. We are committed to:

  • Taking all concerns and feedback seriously and responding appropriately;
  • Using what we hear to improve policies, practices and environments;
  • Identifying patterns or themes to help prevent issues before they escalate;
  • Making changes that strengthen wellbeing, safeguarding and inclusion across cricket.

Respect, Confidentiality and Trust

We ensure that all feedback and concerns are handled with:

  • Respect and dignity;
  • Confidentiality, sharing information only when necessary to keep people safe;
  • Care and sensitivity, especially where safeguarding or welfare concerns are involved.
