With temperatures rising this week, we’re reminding all clubs, players, volunteers and parents to take extra care when playing and training.

Extreme heat can increase the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat stroke – especially during long periods in the sun or while wearing protective kit.

Top tips to stay safe:

– Drink plenty of water and take regular breaks
– Wear hats, sunscreen and light clothing
– Use shade wherever possible
– Avoid the hottest parts of the day – consider adjusting timings
– Have cooling options available (ice, cold towels, shaded areas)

Clubs should also be prepared to shorten, delay or even suspend sessions or matches if conditions become unsafe.

Please keep an eye out for signs of heat illness (dizziness, fatigue, headaches, nausea) and act quickly if anyone feels unwell.
