Catherine Douglas

Catherine Douglas is a senior banking executive with more than 20 years’ experience leading transformation, growth, and cultural change across the UK financial services sector. She is currently Chief Customer Officer at Unity Trust Bank, where she leads the bank’s customer-facing operations and commercial strategy, supporting its mission to deliver both financial performance and positive societal impact.

Prior to this, Catherine served as Chief People & Sustainability Officer at The Co-operative Bank, where she led the bank’s people, ESG, communications and marketing functions and played a key role in the bank’s sale to Coventry Building Society. Earlier in her career she held senior leadership roles including Managing Director for SME at The Co-operative Bank and Business Banking Director at TSB, with previous leadership roles at Santander and HBOS.

Catherine has extensive board and governance experience, having served as a Non-Executive Director at fintech firm BankiFi Technology and as a trustee of Yorkshire & The Humber Co-operative Learning Trust.

She is the Chair of the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation, the official charity of Yorkshire County Cricket Club, where she supports programmes that use cricket to promote health, education, and community inclusion across the region. She is also a committee member for ECB Recreational Game Committee.

She holds an MA in Leadership and Change from Liverpool University and has completed executive education at Harvard Business School.

Steve Hartley

Steve Hartley brings extensive experience in charity governance, executive leadership and local partnerships to the YCF Board.

He has a lifelong love of cricket with experience as a player in the Bradford and Airedale & Wharfedale Leagues, as an administrator, including Chair and Secretary of Lightcliffe CC for over 15 years, and can regularly be found watching cricket at international, county and local levels.

In his professional life Steve, a Cambridge graduate, had 10 years private sector experience in manufacturing as both a production engineer and an IT systems specialist.  He spent 15 years working in community regeneration, initially in London, before returning to his native Bradford to run the New Deal for Communities programme as Chief Executive of Bradford Trident.  As a Local Authority Strategic Director for Place, he led all regeneration, environment, sport, culture and community work.  He currently offers consultancy services, particularly to community, voluntary and charitable organisations.

He is also currently a Director and Trustee of Bradford Park Avenue cricket and of Bradford Community Foundation.

Steve is committed to increasing participation and opportunities in the game and supporting the Foundation’s work to grow and strengthen communities across Yorkshire.

Varinder Rehal

Varinder has served as a Trustee of the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation since the merger of the Yorkshire Cricket Board (YCB) and the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation (YCF) in 2025, having previously served as a Non-Executive Director on the YCB board since 2020. With over 30 years of involvement in cricket across Yorkshire, he has played in leagues in Bradford, Halifax and Leeds and held a number of club roles, including captain, secretary and treasurer. He is also actively involved in supporting local communities, schools and charities.

A lawyer and Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute (FCG), Varinder has spent much of his career in senior legal and executive leadership roles within large multinational businesses across the retail and manufacturing sectors, including as General Counsel. He currently serves on the board of a major business, with responsibility for its legal, compliance, human resources and corporate affairs functions.

Varinder brings to the Foundation extensive board-level and governance experience, a deep understanding of grassroots cricket and a strong commitment to supporting local communities.
