Our Dynamos Schools Yorkshire finals week proved to be a fantastic celebration of school cricket across Yorkshire, bringing together pupils from across the county to compete in the Y3/4 and Y5/6 Open & Girls Yorkshire finals.

Throughout the week, schools demonstrated outstanding enthusiasm and teamwork, reflecting the positive impact that cricket continues to have within primary education. The standard of play was exceptionally high, with teams progressing through their local and area competitions to earn their place at the Yorkshire Finals.

This week has provided hundreds of children with the opportunity to represent their schools, develop confidence, and experience competitive cricket in a fun and inclusive environment. It was particularly encouraging to see the continued growth of girls’ participation, with strong representation across all competitions.

On Monday (29th June) the Y5/6 Open competition was held at Hunslet Nelson CC and the final saw Pannal of North Yorkshire and Scholes of West Yorkshire make it through their groups to face each other with Pannal claiming the crown scoring 85 runs and limiting Scholes to 71 in their reply.

On Tuesday (30th June) the Y5/6 Girls competition, also taking place at Hunslet Nelson CC, saw a North Yorkshire derby in the Final as Whinney Banks and Pannal made it through their groups during the mornings cricket. Whinney Banks were out to set a record and make it three years in a row of being crowned Yorkshire Champions at Y5/6 Girls and duly obliged by defeating Pannal, scoring 99 to Pannal’s 46.

Both of the Y3/4 competitions took place on Wednesday (1st July)  at York CC, prior to the T20 Roses clash between Yorkshire Women and Lancashire Women. In the Y3/4 Girls competition, Acklam Whin of North Yorkshire claimed the crown of Yorkshire Champions with Parkinson Lane of West Yorkshire runners-up in the competition and in the Y3/4 Open competition.  Pannal of North Yorkshire went unbeaten throughout the morning to be crowned Yorkshire Champions with Dore of South Yorkshire taking 2nd place.

This week has highlighted the strength of the school game across Yorkshire and the important role that Dynamos Schools continues to play in inspiring the next generation of cricketers. We look forward to building on this success and welcoming even more schools and young people to the competition programme next year.
