A brilliant celebration of inclusive cricket at Hallam CC and Whiston Parish Church CC! 🏏
Both ECB Disability Champion Clubs welcomed local SEND pupils for two fantastic events, with volunteers from each club helping the days run smoothly.
The young players loved the opportunity to compete against other local schools, with first-rate sportsmanship and the standard of cricket higher than ever before.
“The day was brilliant and there is nothing else like it for SEND pupils,” said Newman PE teacher Kayleigh Teesdale.
Pennine View PE teacher James Burns added: “It was a great experience for our pupils and we would love to come back next year.”
Many of the participants already represent local inclusive teams, including the Sheffield Super Ducks, Rotherham Vipers and Barnsley Lions. The events can also provide a pathway into representative cricket, with Felix progressing to the Yorkshire S9 team after being spotted at a similar event last year.
A special mention also goes to Muhammad, whose passion for cricket saw him volunteer to umpire the matches. His fantastic efforts earned him a well-deserved Spirit of Cricket Award! 👏
